Crisis Counselling
What is crisis counselling?
People can make difficult choices and, as a result, become caught up in an undesirable situation. Crisis counselling is a type of short-term intervention which allows people to deal with traumatic life events such as sudden loss of a loved one, natural disasters, or personal crises like divorce or job loss.
The person going through the crisis may feel overwhelmed, confused and helpless. However, there’s hope, since crisis counselling not only improves the emotional state of the person going through the traumatic event but also empowers them, helping them develop a new perspective in which the crisis feels less threatening.
What are the techniques used during crisis counselling?
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT)
BrainWorking Recursive Therapy utilises psychological processes to rewire neural pathways in the brain that lead to unwanted thought patterns and behaviours. This technique is practised throughout the world and used by medical professionals such as psychiatrists, medical practitioners and hypnotherapists. It’s a technique that has shown significant effectiveness in resolving severe post-traumatic stress disorder, allowing individuals to get back on the road to recovery.
Hypnosis
Hypnosis (hypnotherapy), a state of relaxation, leads to a raised awareness and concentration. It’s viewed as a complementary therapy that one receives along with psychological and medical treatments. A trained hypnotherapist guides you throughout this therapy with the aim of reaching a heightened sense of awareness and concentration, which allows you to make positive and hopeful changes to your behaviour.
Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a therapy that aims to restore balance to one’s life by relieving symptoms of negative experiences. EFT tapping is done in sequences and may need to be repeated to reduce the intensity of negative feelings.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a form of psychotherapy that allows one to recover from deep emotional stress and the physical symptoms that manifest from traumatic events.
